Californovation: Surfing California's Technowave

"Californovation" is organized by the UC Humanities Research Institute (UCHRI) and its director, UC Irvine professor David Theo Goldberg. It is part of a year-long set of national, and to some degree international, initiatives to promote digital humanities. The event at Calit2 will be the closing event of the year-long program, and will feature an afternoon of state of the art demo projects at the interface of humanities/arts/social sciences and the digital coming out of work being done across the University of California. These will include UCSD visual arts professor Adriene Jenik's Calit2-sponsored SPECFLIC new-media project, and Calit2's new Center of Interdisciplinary Science for Art, Architecture and Archaeology (CISA3). The program will end with a panel discussion featuring Calit2 director Larry Smarr, UCSD new-media guru Lev Manovich, and Cathy Davidson of Duke University.
