Digital Emily Dickinson

The mission of this group is to discuss how bringing digitized images of Dickinson's manuscripts to the public lets anyone compare them to the print versions of both the poems and letters. As readers compare the original manuscripts with the various printed editions, sharp differences between editorial decisions and author's purpose may be seen and are worth discussion. Our overall view of Dickinson's work may not change radically, but how we present the texts and how we read and understand them may alter.  What does this mean for Dickinson studies specifically and what does it mean for manuscript studies generally?
