"Animals, Art, and Digital Practices" is a forum in which interested parties can explore the various intersections of art, science, and animal representations as well as digital practices and new media for the creation of art and the study of human-animal interactions. This is clearly a diverse set of topics, but I am very intrigued by “all things animal” and seek a community of scholars in which to explore these topics. I am particularly interested in how thinking about the connections between various practices – those of artists and scientists – in relation to animals can enhance our understanding of the place of animals in society today, of the cultural relevance assigned to animals, and of how meaning comes to be asymmetrically ascribed to different animal species. I encourage anyone who’s interested in one or all of these topics to join and participate. Please feel welcome to bring your own perspective to the group and to raise issues of particular importance to you.
