Click Here for FSDW Peer Review Groups!

Greetings FSDW participants!

First of all, let me say how exciting it has been to meet each of you over the weekend and to learn about your diverse interests!  We’ve got a great group here, and I’m excited for us to get started.

A few housekeeping items:

  • Everyone who posted an introduction and who indicated that she/he was interested in participating has been assigned to a peer review group.  Each group has also been assigned a group leader.  Note:  If you did not include your contact information (especially your email address) in your introduction, we ask that you please do so.  This will allow group leaders to contact you to organize peer readings.  For a list of peer review groups, visit this Google spreadsheet.  Once there, click on group members' names to access their workshop introductions.
  • If you are a group leader, we ask that you review the guidelines for group leaders.  Keep in mind that group leaders are responsible for organizing how and when peer review groups read and respond to manuscripts.
  • If at all possible, we’d love to receive updates from peer reviewers and group leaders throughout the week!  To keep us updated, feel free to post a summary or reflection of your group’s progress to the FSDW group or to tweet about your experiences. (Use the hashtag (#) FSDW13)  Also feel free to contribute to the workshop’s resources and materials Google doc.
  • Remember that the peer review process should take place Monday-Thursday.  On Friday, we ask that you post a summary of your workshop experience (see the workshop directions for details) as well as complete the workshop survey.  The survey will be posted to the FSDW group by Thursday.
Lastly, if you are still interested in participating but were not able to post your introduction on time, we will try to create a peer review group for you, so long as you post your introduction by 5:00 ET on Monday.  Prior to posting your introduction, please review the introduction guidelines.

As always, feel free to let us know if you have any questions or to point out something we've overlooked. :)

Have fun reading and responding to each other's work!

Thank you, Fiona. I'll update the google spreadsheet.

Thanks for looping me in, Fiona--I appreciate it!

Just a shout-out to Group 4! I've created a Google Docs folder so you can post anything you'd like us to read there! You'll see a note from me and a link to the folder in your e-mail box. Heather--I looked up your .edu e-mail address, so I just used that for the folder share... Hope that works! --Elisa

Thank you for organizing your group so quickly, Elisa.  Also, a little while ago I moved David from your group to group 5 to help balance things out. Hope that's okay!

Yes, that's fine...I was looking up David's contact info and reading his uncomputing blog (which is wonderful) and then came back and saw he'd been moved... No worries! (But David, if you're following this, know that I am edified by your work and very pleased to meet you here. I read your post from March 21 on "definitions that matter (of 'digital humanities'" with very great interest, concern, and agreement.) --Elisa

I tried to get to the instructions for group leaders, but the link seems to be broken!

Oh, thanks for letting me know Michelle.  Here it is again.  (It's really just the link to the main forum for the FSDW group.)  Once you get to the page, click the line that says "Find out more" and then scroll to the bottom of the page.  There you'll see info. for group leaders.

Hope that helps!

Hi Lori Beth and Jacob - I don't see my name in a group. Can you add me to one please?

Thanks,

Jacque

Hi Jacqueline,

We didn't see your intro. in the workshop group, so we weren't sure if you wanted to be added to a group or not. Did you post an intro?  It's starting to look like we're having some technical issues!  :(

I did - you even replied asking for more posts etc. Unless that wasn't in the right space somehow?

I updated that page a while ago - if you'd like me to move it I can.

It was't published for some reason - was saved as a draft. Maybe a silly Drupal bug - not sure. It's up now:

Weirdness...I remember that now!  I wonder why it's not showing up?  Do you see it in the workshop group?  At any rate, I'll add you to a peer review group.  My apologies!

Hi Jacque,

When I click on your intro/blog post, it says "permission error."  (This is apparently happening to other folks as well.) I've emailed Fiona Barnett to see if she can look into it.

I've just double checked to be sure that mine is public and in the group - both of which appear correct on the blog entry itself. Let me know if you need me to do anything else to ferret out the issues.
