Blog Post

Hi everyone!

About me

My name is Dara Persis Murray, and I'm currently working on my PhD in Media Studies at Rutgers University.

What I'd like to get out of the workshop

I'm looking forward to connecting with scholars who share similar research interests. Additionally, I'm hoping to receive feedback on one of my dissertation chapters, which I plan to shape into a journal article.

We're excited to have you join the workshop, Dara. Sharing a dissertation chapter is a great idea!  Do you have any ideas as to which journal you might like to send it to once it's complete?

Thanks so much, Lori Beth and Jacob, for organizing this workshop! I'm so happy to be part of it!

As of now, I'm thinking of the journals New Media & Society or Body & Society as potential outlets for this piece...

Welcome to the workshop, Dara!

It's good to see so many fellow scholars studying digital humanities and culture. I think that the intersection of the digital and the visual are especially interesting, especially regarding issues of gender. I hope that I can be of some help , and I'm definitely interested in learning more about the work you're doing for this article. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out!

Thanks for your kind words -- I look forward to talking with you about my chapter, and to speaking with you about your work!

Hi Dara,

Ohhh...these journals look great!  Would you consider adding them to the workshop Google doc of resources and materials?

I've posted a blog post here for folks in our group to chime in on. Please take a look and let me/us know what you think. Thanks!
