Introduction to Participatory Design

Introduction to Participatory Design
Friday, November 15, 2019 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

In this webinar, we will discuss Participatory Design as a way of conducting research and action projects. Participatory Design is a creative field driven by the interactions between researchers and users of technology, who come together to explore, envision and craft technology-enabled systems, devices and software applications. The central point of this tradition is the commitment to ensuring that those who will use information technologies play a critical role in their design.

This webinar involves an overview of the written and non-written histories of Participatory Design, the general basis of this philosophy and method, and an overview of participatory tools, with emphasis on participatory enactment. This webinar could be of special interest to scholars in the humanities and creative practices, interested in exploring participatory pedagogies around research on technology.

Catalina Alzate is a MFA student of Arts, Technology and Emerging Communication (ATEC) at the University of Texas at Dallas. Her background is in design and social sciences, and her interests are pedagogy and critical media studies.

This will be the ninth of a series of HASTAC Webinars that will run through the end of the summer. In this series, HASTAC Scholars will facilitate 45-minute webinars on topics ranging from Interview Prep or Blog Posting to Networking, Personal Statements, and Pedagogy Strategies for Adjuncts.

I just discovered this series and would love to participate.  How or where can I sign up for this webinar and get a URL to join?
