Blog Post

A small HASTAC salute

Greetings fellow HASTACers.  It is so great to finally have a moment to sit down and write my inaugural blog.  I am honored to be a part of this wonderful and interesting collaboration.  It sounds like we all have great stuff to contribute and I love learning about other research projects!  A little about me:

I am a senior at Michigan State University and I love informal education and serious/meaningful play.  I am currently an Art History major, but through my work at the Creativity Exploratory at MSU, I have realized my passion for what educational technologies can contribute to informal learning.  In addition to working at the Creativity Exploratory, I am an education intern at the new Eli & Edythe Broad Art Museum, which is opening next weekend (hence the late blog entry).  I hope to continue my research in museum learning at the Broad Art Museum.  The area I am most interested in researching is how people interact with the traditional exhibition space, how technology can contribute to interactivity and shaping new museum exhibition spaces, and retention rates with techology scaffolding.

I look forward to being an active member in a number of groups that not only share similarities with my passion, but also groups that are different and innovative.  I love seeing what every discipline is doing with technology and although I love art history, I love helping people learn.  I think I will really enjoy this experience and I promise to be blogging more.  Cheers!
