Youth Action Radio Wins 2011 Peabody Award

Congratulations to 2010 Digital Media and Learning Competition Winner, Youth Radio (Mobile Action Lab), for winning a 2011 Peabody Award! Here's the news in their own words:

Today Youth Radio was announced as a winner of a 70th Annual Peabody Award, in the company of major news organizations like CNN, NPR, HBO, PBS, and The Washington Post. This year's award recognized Youth Radio's investigative piece Trafficked: A Youth Radio Investigation, which explores the sex trade of minors in Oakland largely through the lens of first-person accounts of victims. The two-part investigation aired on NPR and
was featured on the front page of The Huffington Post.

The Peabodys are the oldest and most prestigious awards in broadcasting, and are considered the most selective prizes in electronic media.  All entries become a permanent part of the Peabody Archive at the University of Georgia, one of the nation's largest, oldest, and most revered media archives.  Read more about the70th Annual Peabody Awards here.
