The founding of Khronikos: the blog in January 2012 grew out of an attempt to rejuvenate a long-dormant student-run online journal by the same name. The journal remains dormant, but the blog is flourishing. Two possible explanations present themselves. First, the blog allows graduate students a forum to share their work. The relative informality and flexibility of submitting blog posts provides developing historians a safe place to explore new ideas, practice presenting their research, receive feedback from their peers and a broader audience, and participate in a wider dialogue about history and the graduate student experience.
