Zach Mellman-Carsey is a graduate student studying Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design at Indiana University Bloomington. He holds a BFA in Three Dimensional Studies with emphasis in Jewelry and Metals from the Bowling Green State University. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
Zach sets bluetooth speakers inside the modeled and 3D printed components, combines 3D printed forms with a variety of mediums including metal, wood, fabric, and precious stone, and creates wearable sculptures that incorporate sound, light, and movement. The gesture of merging 3D printed components, fabricated components, and music, light source, or continuous motion into a sophisticated wearable piece challenges the visual format, functionality, and concept of wearable jewelry.
