The article, "Syrian Lesbian Bloggers, Fake Geishas, and the Attractions of Identity Tourism" is written by one of my, and Im sure, many HASTACer's favorite new media studies scholars, Lisa Nakamura! Im thrilled the article is published at Hyphen, a fantastic magazine dedicated to Asian American culture and social issues. Here, Nakamura illuminates the contours around the shocking revelations, of faux lesbian bloggers, most notably and recently Gay Girl in Damascus blog by Amina Abdallah Arraf, actually written by a white male Tom McMaster, and this ongoing trend of "identity tourism." Upon posting on my fb, got a request to repost this great article here, and great to engage with HASTAC folks on this issue of not "gay for pay" but seems like, "lez for web?"
