Greetings from Palo Alto!
As a participant in David's class at Stanford, I'm preparing a final project around identifying which metrics could be used to track outcomes from a liberal arts education.
My starting hypothesis is that because the goals of a liberal arts education are often different from a other fields (e.g. STEM), the metrics used to gauge success should reflect that. For instance, if one such goal is developing students into better citizens, a metric for something like civic participation (e.g., % likelihood to vote) might be more relevant than "salary 6 months after graduation".
I'm looking for a few collaborators to help me review the existing research and brainstorm new ideas for the appropriate metrics that match to each potential goal in a liberal arts education. Anyone else interested?
Feel free to respond here, or reach out to me directly at kipp.johnson@gmail.com.
Thanks!
Kipp
