We started DIGW activities today at Spectrum Primary with a group of 28 "prefects" -- seventh graders who have earned responsibilities as student leaders in the school. (7th is the highest grade in the school.) After introductions and some talk about the Millenium Development Goals and issues in their community (examples: crime, prostitution, drugs, unemployment, "cold" [lack of heat and proper clothing in the winter], access to clean water, abandoned children), we moved to the computer lab to play some DIGW games. We're lucky to be able to work with such an earnest and kind group of learners, and such a supportive staff. Tomorrow we go with them out into the community with smartphones to gather media for their own game.
