If you missed Cathy Davidson’s webinar on "Changing Higher Education to Change the World" last Thursday, Oct. 11, rest assured that you can view it online at http://connectedlearning.tv/cathy-davidson-changing-higher-education-change-world. The webinar was offered and archived by the Digital Media and Learning Research Hub’s Connected Learningwebsite.
Cathy began with the statement, “College was designed to prepare students for a 20th-century workplace, and it's not catching up fast enough to the realities of the modern world. How can we overhaul the entire system?” She was joined by David Goldberg, co-founder of HASTAC and Director of University of California Humanities Research Institute; Kyle Peck, professor of Education at Penn State University; Luka Carfagna, doctoral student in the Sociology Department at Boston College and Connected Learning Research Network Member; and moderator Mimi Ito, research director at the Digital Media and Learning Research Hub at the University of California, Irvine.
The webinar was a hit: more than 170 people in 15 countries watched live http://livestream.com/connectedlearningtv, and collectively there were more than 2,900 minutes viewed. Within 24 hours of the talk, more than 640 people had streamed the video.
