A note from the FemTechNet co-facilitators next year:
Greetings from Lisa Nakamura and Liz Losh, this year's FemTechNet co-facilitators. We are stepping in to give Alex Juhasz and Anne Balsamo, FemTechNet founders and beloved leaders, a much needed rest. We can't fill those shoes, but we will do our best to continue this amazing feminist collective project, Dialogues on Feminism and Technology, currently housed at http://femtechnet.newschool.edu/.
FemTechNet has had a remarkable year. And it's time to start getting ready for DOCC 2014. If you plan to teach a nodal distributed open collaborative course this Fall, we need you to do three things . . .
1) Join a FemTechNet DOCC committee (choose from Pedagogy, Steering, Fundraising, Infrastructure, or a new and vital one: FemTechNet Transnational).
2) Attend one of three Summer Sessions Jun 9-14 in NYC, LA, or the Midwest (city in Illinois or Michigan TBA). In person FemTechNet Collective Meetings were *very* productive and fun last year. If you can't manage the travel in this time frame, you can attend virtually to meet your fellow instructors.
3) Send us the name of your DOCC course, your institution, and the names of the instructors to be added to the FemTechNet Commons.
We plan to be in touch soon with a more extensive update about the great things happening with FemTechNet, including the possibility of a FemTechNet Reader, an appearance in a special issue of Frontiers, and others.
We need to hear back from you by APRIL 11. Very much looking forward to seeing who's teaching the DOCC in 2014. Questions? Contact TL Cowan at cowant [at] newschool [dot] edu.
