Hi HASTAC Scholars 2015,
My name is Dawn Opel and I am a third-year doctoral student in Rhetoric, Composition, and Linguistics at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. My research is positioned in three areas: digital rhetoric, technical communication, and the digital humanities. I study objects in digital spaces and the built environment, from new media texts such as image macros, to technical communication such as packaging design and retail displays, to digital tools and platforms designed for digital humanities projects.
I serve as President of ASU's Graduate Scholars of English Association this year, and I also serve on the Advisory Board of the Nexus Lab at ASU, our digital humanities lab. This year I am also working as an Assistant Editor of Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy.
I can't wait to talk about so many topics with you all: I am attempting a digital humanities diss project, and very interested in #remixthediss. I am also a newbie coder and web designer, a Minecrafter, and lover of all things Digital Media and Learning. I look forward to working with you all this year!
