FSDW Introduction: Dawn Opel

Hi, everyone!

My name is Dawn Opel and I am a PhD student in Rhet/Comp and Gender Studies at Arizona State University. I teach writing and new media courses. My research is primarily focused on postfeminist cultural rhetorics, fan studies, and participatory culture, and I study women who read and remix literature in social media spaces. (I'll bring a draft of an article from this work to the FDSW.) A recovering lawyer, I also do research in feminist theory and professional and technical communication. Finally, I am very interested in gaming and digital media and learning, mostly because my 8-year-old son and I spend a lot of time Minecrafting.

I'll be doing some digital archiving of social media for FSDW, so follow me on twitter @dawnopel and don't forget to tweet with the hashtag #FSDW!

Looking forward to working with all of you!

Hi Dawn I also have kids who LOVE minecraft.  I'm so glad you are planning to tweet.  To clarify the hashtag it is #FSDW14  Looking forward to reading your tweets!

Hi Dawn,
I'm hoping we'll see each other again at the 2015 Feminisms and Rhetorics conference, which (lucky you!) will be at Arizona State University. I really enjoyed your presentation last year on Fifty Shades of Grey.
It's good to "see" you again! :)
