This weekend, we won't be accepting new members or content on the HASTAC site because . . . if all goes well . . . [insert drumroll here] . . . we will be migrating to our new website!
All year, behind the scenes Mark Olson and Mandy Dailey have been working with a developer to create a site that is more current in look, more flexible, and promotes social networking and collaboration more than our current site. Since HASTAC is a voluntary organization with no dues and so forth, we did this in an inexpensive fashion, which means Mark and Mandy have put in countless hours on this project.
And we think it will be worth it. This week the HASTAC Scholars have been beta-beta testing. When we go live, there will be lots of content that our members will need to add, pages to populate, and it will still be beta so we'll need your help to work out any final bugs.
Will it be perfect? Not. Will it be better than our current site, more user friendly, more suitable to showing off your projects and your institutions and all the things you HASTAC networkers are up to? Yes! And that's our goal.
Stay tuned. Keep your fingers crossed. We hope in the next few weeks, that you'll be seeing HASTAC, The Sequel. Ready . . . set . . . and almost . . . maybe . . .if all goes well . . . GO!
