Our Claymation learning Labs have afforded students new opportunities to share their work on the Internet. A recent video “Be a Superhero: Save Arts Education” was created by a student in reaction to the proposed Philadelphia School District budget cuts. This video was e-mailed directly to all of Philadelphia’s City Councilpersons, gaining some return e-mail in favor of saving arts education and receiving over 400 YouTube views. All of the videos our students create can be found on our YouTube page (ClaymobileTCS). We are always happy to gain new subscribers!
One student who took a Claymation class at Edison High School this fall, Tiera Davis, was able to gain employment at The Clay Studio this summer as a part of the Work Ready program and created a YouTube commercial for art classes as a part of here internship. Tiera's internship experience was writen about on the ArtsRising blog--you can find out more here.
This Saturday, August 17th six of our Tacony Claymation students are being honored at the Maker Celebration at the Central Library location of the free Library of Philadelphia for the videos they created on the benefits of community. Those videos will be on YouTube after this Saturday--so be sure to check in!
