Full bio
I'm in my third year of PhD studies in the ICR at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Prior to coming here I received a BA in Psychology from the University of Calgary and an MA in Humanities from York University in Toronto.
I'm currently in my last semester of course work which would suggest that I have a dissertation project in mind. I don't. Not really. I enjoy new media things, but my academic work is more oriented toward social theory and technology. Lately I've been doing work on mobile phones, looking at how they figure into systems of power. As much as I try to avoid it I'm frequently drawn to Foucault, but I'm actively trying to mix things up as far as theory goes. I'm also starting a project looking at the cultural construction of Adderall and other nootropics. I think this will be fun.
These things always end with something like "Feel free to say hi" and by all mean, do say hi if you impelled to do so but I mean, really, when we put something like that we don't really ever expect anyone to say hi and if someone does we're typically caught by surprise and not just a little bit suspicious. But again, by all means, please say hi.
