USC Upstate held its first SpeedGeeking event Friday afternoon in Spartanburg, SC. The event was a chance for interested members of the university and community to hear 9 rapid-fire, 10-minute presentations on uses of new technology for academic, pedagogical, and collaborative purposes.

Here's a run down of the presentations:

On my recent two-week visit at UIC, I was asked which online resources I use most frequently. I mentioned TagCrowd, del.icio.us, Zotero, Needle, and HASTAC (of course!). Several people didn't know about these and I promised to send them url's and a brief annotation of each. Most readers of this blog will know this already but, for those who don't, a primer. And I'd like all readers to use this column to share their own favorite tools, too.
