Since it's just a couple weeks before we start gathering data, I'd like to give a quick introduction to the methodology ccLearn (the education program at Creative Commons) is using for our Student Journalism 2.0 research project.

In preparation for my West Coast trip, where I will be interviewing many of the most innovative open source thinkers and entrepreneurs, I've been noodling around on websites. This is also useful because HASTAC is in the final stages (I almost wrote "death throes") of migrating our content to our new site . . .

Wikimedia Foundation announces important licensing change for Wikipedia and its sister projects

Adoption of Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License will support greater interoperability and re-usability of Wikimedia content. The current GNU Free Documentation License will continue to be supported.

The proceedings of HASTAC 07, Electronic Techtonics: Thinking at the Interface, is now available on LULU, under Creative Commons licensing, for a mere $12.24--or download for free. Here's the url:http://www.lulu.com/content/2124631/ We've mentioned this before but school's about to start and it would make a great textbook for your courses as well as a good exercise in self-publishing, open source licensing, and all the rest. Google Book Search Adds Copyright Data

Google Book Search now indicates what books are still under copyright and what ones are not.  As Cameron Parkins says on the Creative Commons website, we can now "use free information to free information."
