A conference on Futurism, held in Second Life.  The speakers for one session were right in saying that a blue dragon having introduced them would not be the strangest part of the talk.

a very common mistake when using voice in SL is that residents accidentally leave their sound channel open... This causes often unwanted background noise. We made sure we warned about this beforehand and more than one time and we even sent tutorials on the voice features in SL for those that migth not be acquainted with it.

Besides Gary Sinese's scene in CSI NY where, to find a suspect, he needs access to a Second Life sim... there are other more orthodox ways to go about access in SL...

FAS Unveils Virtual Worlds Almanac Wiki

As a sort of follow up to the Youtube tour of virtual worlds I wrote about in March, here is another great resource for learning about the ever-expanding list of virtual environments, and an opportunity to contribute your knowledge about them. Since this press release was disseminated yesterday, the number of virtual worlds represented on the wiki has grown from 74 to 76, and more are certainly on the way as users become aware of the wiki.

Suguru Goto, who gave a demo and was on a panel at HASTAC 07, has a new performance "netBody" with an augmented reality body suite, mime, and then in Second Life.
