Thanks to the many of you who contributed your thoughts, questions and experiences, we had a fascinating inuagural HASTAC Scholars Discussion Forum on "Participatory Learning" featuring Howard Rheingold and HASTAC Scholar Joshua McVeigh-Schultz.

I'm writing to invite you all to join in for our next forum, which will open for discussion this coming Monday, September 22, and will be facilitated by HASTAC Scholar Ana Boa-Ventura. The topic:

Today (June 22, 2007) the President of the Macarthur Foundation, Jonathan Fanton, and CEO of Linden Lab (of Secondlife) Philip Rosedale held a public discussion of philanthropy and civic engagement in Secondlife.

On 22 June, 9am PST (noon EST), MacArthur Foundation President Jonathan Fanton and Second Life CEO Philip Rosedale will be chatting about the role of philathropic foundations in Second Life. Or, more accurately, their avatars will be there . . . and we're all invited too! Thanks to Pam Spaulding, goddess of Pam's House Blend, and participation by many other local notables, our Web 2.0 workshop provided helpful hints on how to capture the attention of the blogosphere (the portion you want. at least), podcasting, streaming video live into Second Life, and very cool book tools like Library Thing.
