Retroblogging Myself on the Backchannel
Back eons ago (i.e. on Thurs in NC, today is Sat in La Jolla), at the CHAT Festival at UNC, John McGowan and I had a dialogue with a ferociously interesting audience on "The Future of Learning Institutions." We made a radical decision before our panel to not have prepared papers or even prepared remarks and to not use any other form of technology either. Nada. Unscripted. Unplugged.

I was recently introduced to the website doodle.com where you can set up a poll for scheduling purposes or simply schedule something. It's easy to use and has changed my work life: I regularly am charged with setting up meetings and have to find a date and time

CHAT Festival Coming Feb 2010
Next year is going to be a huge year in our area. There's CHAT: A Digital Arts and Humanties Festival here in February 2010 and then the W3C is holding its annual international conference in Raleigh in April. HASTAC hopes to be part of these major, incredible events in our community. Here's a preview of CHAT.

Why not just rename April "HASTAC month"? April 16-17 sees the First Annual Winners' Showcase for the HASTAC/MacArthur Foundation Digital Media and Learning Competition in Chicago . . . and then, April 19-21 is the third International HASTAC Annual Conference at UIUC . . . and then, April 22-23 (also at UIUC) are the Extended Workshops brought to you by HASTAC. Everybody's welcome to these great events!
