A pubcast is video correspondence to a peer-reviewed article. The San Diego Supercomputing Center, the National Science Foundation and the Public Library of Science have partnered together creating SciVee TV for researchers to share thier work and glean valuable feedback. (It is much like You-Tube with a science spin.)

As a educator, I think this is also a great tool for gifted education. It is a good way to keep our gifted students engaged. Unfortunately, because of NCLB, our brightest kids are the most left behind. Hence, the high drop out rates. But I digress...

Have your brillant students do a pubcast. Science is interactive. Text books are so 5 minutes ago and very often irrelevant for today's scientific advances. Our gifted students very often know more than grade level textbooks. Let's engage our brightest minds and have them participate in conversations with the scientists themselves. Check out http://www.scivee.tv/.
