"Knowledge-networking" is one of the two award categories in the Digital Media and Learning Competition and we are very pleased to report that, a little over a week into the Competition, the HASTAC/MacArthur network is alive and well. If you Google us, you will find that the Competition has been blogged and list serv?d more times than anyone has the energy to count. And according to Google?s statistics, once people learn about the Competition through their favorite blogs and list servs, they check it out. We?ve had over 9,000 ?absolute unique visitors?--approximately 1000 new visits per day on average. What makes us even happier is that we?ve had over 51,000 pageviews, with the average visitor viewing 4.42 pages and staying on the site 6:33 minutes. That?s an eon in internet time. There?s excitement, interest, attention. People are keeping us busy asking good questions using the "Contact" box on the website and we have seen, through various communities on line, that people are introducing themselves to one another virtually and working on projects together because of this Competition. That's what we were hoping for, the generation of ideas, of communities. And even though this year?s Competition is aimed at the U.S., we?ve had visitors from 93 countries. We've tapped a World Wide Knowledge Web. We?re very, very pleased. Obviously we are keen to translate these numbers into a vigorous application pool. Thanks to all who have helped spread the word. Thanks in advance for continuing to get out the word to anyone who should know. And now, we hope you will go forth and apply!
