Most people who interact with computers know about the field of HCI, but with ubiquitous Wi-Fi and mobile network internet access, the iPhone, and the growing "Internet of Things", it is important to consider how technology supports human-world interaction off the desktop and beyond the mobile phone.

If you'd like to share information or comment on this topic, please let me know.

I post regularly on topics related to educational technology, interactive multimedia, universal usability, emerging technologies, ubiquitous computing, the use of technology for prevention and intervention, and so forth,  on the following blogs.  I often include video clips and photos to share my thoughts, resources, links, and ideas, as I'm interested in visual and multimedia communication.

September Who Named America Student Month

The America500 Birthday Organizing Committee is now programming Sept 2007 Who Named America Student Month.  Youth are engaged to expand public awareness of the naming of America that resulted from a turning point in humanity's understanding of planetary science - when in 1507 cartographer Martin Waldseemuller, in the Renaissance spirit of innovation and invention, printed the first map of the globe to depict a new continent and a new ocean, known now as the Pacific.

This web event is for classrooms to download the map and the sample proclamation wording, to then ask the Mayor to proclaim Who Named America Month.  The America500 Vision is for 500+ communities in 50 states, and worldwide, to signon for the America500 Birthday movement to champion worldwide learning and "Bring Home The Spirit of History In Your Town."

The America500 Birthday mission is to combat the deteriation of youth literacy in science and history.  Residents in communities across the country are being informed of this momentus occasion to act as champions of knowledge and make a contribution to improve the quality of life in their community. Youth in the US are being presented with the key "Who Named America" to unlock the local window to worldwide learning, expanding their American identity from 200+ years of political history to 500+ years of planetary sciences.

This America 500 Anniversary Vision is the engine that seeks to reawaken youth in the first "Earth From Space" generation, of how the word America originated in the history of planetary understanding.  This knowledge serves concerned citizens interested launch the America500 Birthday as the future trend at the beginning of this new era, for the 21st Century Renaissance for future world peace.

"America was first born in the spirit of innovation and invention, " explains Riccardo Gaudino, America500 historian.  "History bestows upon us this momentous occasion."
