I have some information about touch-screen displays and tables on my Interactive Mutlimedia Technology and Tech Psych blogs.

Last semester, I spent some time working with applications for touch interfaces to support the collaboration between two or more people. I wanted to get my hands on a touch-table, but found that most tables were not yet available to the public.

One system, the Touch Table, had most of the features that I wanted, but the price at the time was $59,000.00!

Fortunately, less expensive screens are on the horizon. One of Microsoft's newest releases, Surface, is a touch-screen table that looks like it has many possibilities for the future. I understand that it will be released by November, 2007, and will cost between $5,000.00 to $10,000.00. This is still a bit expensive.

I would also like to see touch-applications embedded on adjustable surfaces, so that users can position them according to need, somewhat like an adjustable drafting table. They'd be great in classrooms.

What do you think?

This is fabulous, Lynn.
