The Future of Learning
Cat in the Stack
Three FUTURE OF LEARNINGS events focusing on youth and learning in a digital age will be pulled out of the full "Electronic Techtonics" conference program and made free to the public and widely advertised to both a local community and to those on Second Life. The events are John Seely Brown's talk on "The Social Life of Learning in the Net Age," at the Nasher Museum of Art at 8 pm on Thursday April 19, and then two events on the morning of Saturday, April 21, "The Future of Learning: Three Perspectives," featuring Vice President of the MacArthur Foundation Julia Stasch and Superintendent of Durham Public Schools, Carl Harris. That session will be followed by "At the Interface of Everything," a conversation about the digital future by an array of experts in many fields from social learning to internet development, radical innovation, and collaborative thinking. There will be a free reception at the Nasher following JSB's talk and a community breakfast (also free) for the Saturday morning events. The Saturday morning events will be also broadcast in Second Life. A great alternative to Saturday morning cartoons!
