About CI-HASS

The comprehensive infrastructure needed to capitalize on dramatic advances in information technology has been termed cyberinfrastructure. Cyberinfrastructure integrates hardware for computing, data and networks, digitally-enabled sensors, observatories and experimental facilities, and an interoperable suite of software and middleware services and tools. Investments in interdisciplinary academic teams and cyberinfrastructure professionals with broad expertise in content production and technology systems is essential to exploit the full power of cyberinfrastructure to create, disseminate, and preserve data, information, and knowledge.

The Institute is an intensive one-week summer program for faculty, scholars, graduate students, professionals and public intellectuals. The Institute will host 40-50 distinguished participants in a "laboratory" where together they can engage important and creative thought and application. Workshops will include conversations with cutting edge technological innovators, humanists, artists and social scientists; they involve demonstrations of new technological devices, and their applications as well as scholarly practices. Participants will have opportunities to familiarize themselves with new digital applications in the context of small working groups.
