Once again, it is my great pleasure to introduce and welcome to the HASTAC leadership team two final additions for this year to the HASTAC Steering Committe!

We welcome Nick Montfort, Assistant Professor of Digital Media in the Program in Writing & Humanistic Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The author of several collaborative digital media projects and works of interactive fiction, Nick is also a poet and editor of several reference works on interactive fiction and new media. He is currently investigating narrative variation in interactive fiction, the human meanings nad machine functions of code, and the role of platforms in creative computing. Visit Nick's website for more on these projects.

We also welcome Sharon Daniel, Associate Professor of Film & Digital Media at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Her research involves collaborations with communities that focus on the use and development of information and communications technologies for social inclusion. As an artist, she has exhibited internationally, and views her role as that of "context provider," -- working with communities, collecting their stories, soliciting their opinions, and building online archives to make this data available across social, cultural and economic boundaries. Visit Sharon's website for more on her work.

I invite Nick and Sharon, and all of our newest members of the Steering Committee, to introduce themselves and their work on this HASTAC blog. We welcome you!

We are thrilled that these new additions will be bringing their energy and vision to HASTAC! At the same time, I'd like to salute the members of the Steering Committee who in these past years have been dedicatedly leading HASTAC in truly exciting and innovative directions. Thank you all for the work you have already put in, and for the efforts you'll be making in the years to come. Here's looking to HASTAC's brave new future!
