UNC celebrated its 50th anniversary of computing today. This was a fantastic event, with Nobel laureates and everything.

This was a talk given March 3, 2010 for Gary Marchionini's Video Information seminar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Information and Library Science.

Before his talk last week as part of the Duke Provost's Lecture Series, I had the opportunity to conduct a brief interview with Professor Jonathan Zittrain.

The problem with Facebook  or Twitter is that they encourage people to give away their most valuable data set – the stories of their lives. Digital Storymakers is a cooperative social network site that returns the economic power of information to the people that own it.
