It has felt good today, so many HASTAC friends logging onto the site, uploading content, fleshing out profiles, and testing the site on different browsers, using different platforms, and giving us the feedback we need to make this the best site it can be. (Yeah, yeah, yeah, we have limited resources, everyone knows that, still, it's not bad, people are telling us.) We even had some very proficient Drupal programmers say, intended as the ultimate compliment, "It doesn't even look like a Drupal site."
We still have a lot of work to do, of course, but we wanted the community to participate, to share its wealth of knowledge. We value your comments. Ruby will be blogging regularly and we'll also be working on some tutorials, and some better interfaces, with more instructions for those just entering and that aren't too annyong for the pros, and we'll be adding new features.
What feels best: a website should never be just a thing. it's also a community. It's felt like that. Only Mandy Dailey and Mark Olson meeting weekly with our developer, Zaloni, starting way back in September or October. Not only working with all the rest of our HASTAC team, including Sheryl Grant who has done a wonderful job integrating the Ning site for the Digital Media and Learning Competitions into this much more powerful site that will help those winners to do the kind of networking they aspire to, reaching a far larger community. Not only working with Jonathan Tarr, our HASTAC Program Coordinator, to get out the word and also work the administration of the business end of building a site. Not only working with Ruby Sinreich, who is taking Mark's place as the Director of New Media Strategies for HASTAC . . . not only, not only, not only all this . . .
But also all of YOU, our HASTAC network, for your patience and your participation. Onwards and upwards!
