The Play Principle

The idea that the classroom needs to better approximate the atmosphere of a busy hive or a thriving habitat can only be made a reality by engaging in playful exploration and communication—a process that activates the mind and primes the ego. I am convinced that play represents the next stage of enlightenment for our perception and conduct of Education., and that within this paradigm is a universal that can provide both foundation and field compass for moving forward.

In Education, the topic of Play is typically afforded a certain modicum of lip service, the patronizing pat on the head, and then dismissal of such a childish idea. In Brain Science, Play may be the most compelling area of research and the bridge leading to an applied science of learning.
