We are inviting submissions of ethnographic studies that investigate how people notice trouble and develop a sense of the scope for (remedial) action. 'Diagnostic' work plays a crucial role not only in medical consultations, but also in many other professions and situations. It makes people focus on their engagement with material agencies, and the studies presented at this workshop will allow some insight into the practical negotiation of socio-material relations.
